Donald F Berry - 746th Tank Battalion
Donald enlisted into the Army in September 1943. After training he became a member of the 746th TB.
The 746th TB landed on Utah beach during D-Day afternoon. They then linked up with airborne and infantry units to spend the next 3 days driving German resistance out of the area.
The 746th then continued on the drive towards Cherbourg. Donald was SWA (seriously wounded in action) on 27th June 1944 somewhere near to Cherbourg.
He was shot through the chest, luckily for him it missed all the vital organs and he was shipped back to England for treatment. The injuries he sustained that day finished his participation of WW2.
