Cherbourg Souvenir Helmet
This German helmet was picked up by a U.S solider during the liberation of Cherbourg.
The helmet itself is a M40 single decal Heer (Army) helmet made by F.W Quist of Esslingen.
The most interesting part of the helmet is
the writing on the sweat band.
“Souvenir of Cherbourg June 13th 1944”.
This helmet is part of a grouping with an American M-1 officer’s helmet that can be found in the Seaborne Assault Troops section.
