No.75 Anti-tank/ Hawkins Mine
The No.75 anti-tank grenade/mine or “Hawkins” mine as it is more commonly known was British made and issued to US forces for the Normandy invasion.
They are commonly seen in pictures strapped to the legs of paratroopers.
Two red chemical detonators are housed directly behind the pressure plate on the backside of the mine.
This particular mine has all its original paint and marking stamps. The cap has been painted red at some stage as a symbol that it had been filled and was ready to be used.
Hawkins mines were used for a number of uses including booby traps; demolition and its intended use as an anti-tank mine.
