J W Landis Souviner Helmet
This German helmet was picked up by J W Landis during his time at Omaha beach in
mid June 1944.
The helmet itself is a M40 single decal Heer (Army) helmet made by F.W Quist of Esslingen.
The damage to the outside of the helmet shell has been caused by the sweat band of his M-1 helmet. The 2 helmets had been stored together for 69 years before being acquired for the collection.
This helmet is part of J W Landis’s large “Mulberry” grouping which can be found in the Mulberry section.
