Combat Command B - M-1 Helmet
In 1943 it was decided to abolish armored regimental headquarters, they were replaced by 2 Combat Command headquarters A and B.
It made it a far simpler task to attached armored units to the combat command. The CCB controlled the armored divisions all the way through Normandy and famously during Operation Cobra.
This particular fixed bale helmet belonged to a member of the CCB. The CCB letters are painted in black paint on both the shell and liner.
The liner itself is a St Clair type 2 with rayon suspension, square washers and a fixed chin strap.
The only difference between this and a type 1 is the lack of the painted liner interior.
