British Made ETO Sniper Blouse
The ETO sniper blouse were British Made for American issue. Unlike the American made jackets this one has internal pockets and buttons, so it can be worn totally in reverse. The material was very similar to that used to make British HBT battle dress uniforms.
These jackets are very elusive in US collecting circles, and good un-marked examples are far and few between.
Camouflage pattern uniforms where only issued to a very limited number of units in Normandy, most notably the 2nd Armored Division. The experiment didn’t last very long as ETO (European theatre of operations) soldiers were not used to seeing US soldiers in camouflage uniforms and mistakenly identified them as German troops.
In the Pacific campaign the camouflage or “Jungle” pattern uniforms proved very successful and where wildly used.
