Demolition Satchel
This demolition satchel is the rarer part of the individual demolition kit used by paratroopers on D-Day.
This large satchel was designed to carry 20 x ½ pound blocks of TNT, the smaller satchel had a metal box inside with all the tools and equipment to detonate the TNT.
There seems to be 2 known examples using different styles of buckles. This particular example has large cast buckles. Like all demolition satchels there are no maker or date markings.
These satchels are commonly seen in 101st Airborne pictures at the embarkation airfields prior to D-Day.
This type of demolition satchel is extremely rare, due to its limited usage and the fact that most were detonated with the TNT inside.
