Utah Beach Find
We found this piece of camouflage poncho on Utah Beach about 1 mile down the beach from the museum.
It was late December and there had been a storm, so the beach was swamped with sea weed, shells and other sea waste.
The material was wrapped up in a lump of sea weed, and it wasn’t until we washed it in water that it became clear what it was.
So perhaps the Navy used camouflage ponchos during the Normandy invasion????
